30 for 30...am I crazy? I think so.

Monday, January 31, 2011 § 0

I am now officially a proud member of the 30 for thirty 'remix your closet' community.  I'm so excited.  Basically, all I have to do is get 30 items from my closet (including shoes, excluding accessories) and mix and match them all for 30 days.  I will be taking photos of my outfits every day and sharing them right here so you can see how I did it.  I'm actually quite nervous! I know I can do it, though.  This is my dedication face:
Oh yeah.  That there is real.

SOOOO here are my items, chosen with extreme care:

3 JACKETS:

ARMY: Old Navy
DENIM: Old Navy
BLAZER: Forever 21

DARK DENIM: Miley Cyrus/Max Azria for Walmart
LIGHT DENIM: Chaps for Kohls

2 DRESSES

PLAID: Forever 21

GRAY&PURPLE: Forever 21
BLUE CARDI: American Eagle
CHUNKY KNIT: Target

3 JEANS:

I'm excited!  If you're still confused about the 30 for 30 challenge and maybe want to try it out yourself, here's the link to the girl who started it all:

AND I added something a little fun to my 30 for 30 remix days....each day I do it, I'm going to add on a song that describes my mood/day/outfit/etc.  It may be silly and cheesy, but it makes the whole thing, like, 10 times more fun for me.

Leave a comment if you plan on remixing along with me!

Have a lovely Monday,
Cooper

Happy Friday, everyone!

What a day.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 § 0

I had a fun one, actually.  It's been a nice break from all the stress I've been dealing with lately, via yearbook, pre-cal (blech), and various other aspects of my life.

I mean, I guess I should get prepared for this since I'll have to deal with it in college and all, but right now I've got a bad case of senior-itis and the only thing that can cure it is the diploma in my hand on June 4th.  Woah-it's only a few months away.

In other news, a long time ago I blogged (on my other blog that, sadly, got deleted) that I was visiting Colorado State (my future place of study) with my best friend and her family.   By some lucky, weird twist of fate, we both fell in love with the campus and I just found out that she just got accepted.  It's just funny to me since we've been friends for so long, doing everything together, and now we're entering this next phase of our lives by each other's sides.  I don't know; I'm a sentimental slob.  It's just going to be nice to have her around, since I thought we might be attending different colleges.

It's going to be nice.  Of course, we can't spend EVERY minute together, I know that, but she's going to make the transition from Texas to Colorado much, much easier.

ALSO in other news, I just finished That Thing You Do, directed by Tom Hanks, and it was adorable.  If you're a fan of the sixties and guys with goofy personalities, you'll be a fan of this movie.  I thought it was great.

FRRRIDAY NIGHT

Friday, January 21, 2011 § 0

I'm quite excited for this weekend, mostly because this week has been exhausting.  I've been feeling lately like I haven't been doing enough for yearbook- even though I guess I am- but I just don't feel like it.  All these mistakes and problems keep coming up and I keep missing things and....blech.  I just need to breathe, I suppose.   I did get a little bit of my journalism confidence back when I went on assignment today to take pictures of some of the kids from my school in the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) training program.  I must say, I took some pretty nice shots.  The blister on my heel was totally worth the pictures.

Another mood-booster will be this fun day I have planned with my friends tomorrow.  We're heading to Ikea instead of going to the Winter Formal (which costs $25- I DON'T THINK SO).  We're all wearing nice dresses and going to run around and pick out fabrics and rugs and ironing boards and eat lingonberry pie and swedish meatballs and have lots and lots of fun together.

I do have a goal this weekend, however, and that is to watch Never Let Me Go.  I'm fully prepared to cry.
I cannot wait to see my darling Andrew Garfield.

Toodle-loo and may your Friday be lovely,
Cooper

What I'm in love with this week....

Wednesday, January 19, 2011 § 1

This skirt from ASOS:
It's GORGEOUS and would go with probably a billion things in my closet.  I need it.  I love it.  Now all I have to do is get 50 bucks to buy it with.

This movie:
Because I am a super slacker and claim to have no time even though I spend hours on Tumblr and Facebook, I watched the movie for a project instead of reading the book.  I found that it was wonderful, and NOT TO FEAR, I plan on reading the original Shakespeare version very soon.  Anna Friel was adorable in this movie, and I was excited to see her since I am a Pushing Daisies obsessor and lust after her style in the show (shown below):

And Stanley Tucci is in it too.  And Sam Rockwell.  And Christian Bale.  And Rupert Everett (who looks smokin', by the way)

That's it for now :)

Have a lovely Wednesday,
Cooper

Golden Globes.

Sunday, January 16, 2011 § 0

I never realize how much of a fashion/hot male celebrity/movie lover dork I am until I watch an awards show.  I used to want to be an actress, but now I just hold out hope that a producer will come up to me in the mall and beg me to be in their movie.  It could happen.

ANYWAY, I died for fashion tonight.  I have to say, there were so many gorgeous dresses.  Below, I pay homage to my top four faves (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER):

1.  WELL, first of all, Hailee Steinfeld rocked this.  I have a girl crush on her, and she's three years younger than me.  It's a problem.  I'm just saying, when I look at her, I'm ashamed of how I dressed at age 14.

2. Leighton Meester.  Do I even need to explain my love for this girl?  She never stops pushing the limits of fashion and this dress was just crazy wonderful and unique.

3.  Olivia Wilde's dress makes me sad for prom, because I want to wear something like this so badly and yet I know I will never find it.  Ho-hum.  Well, she looked super badass, and I loved the pictures of her showing of her studded yellow heels underneath.

4.  Emma Stone is perfection personified in this dress.  A lot of people didn't like how plain it was, but come on- IT'S CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION.  You don't just call Calvin 'plain' and get away with it.  I believe the word you're looking for is CLASSIC and SOPHISTICATED.  Anyway, peach is an adorable color on her and accents that hot new blonde 'do she's been rocking lately.  And I love anything backless.

The runner ups of this evening's best dressed list include:
Sandra, will you ever stop being amazing? Even though you looked so sad.
"How can someone so beautiful...be so sad?" -Mindy Kaling, The Office
Preach it, Kelly.

Jayma Mays looks so wonderful here.  This is such a unique gown!

AND OF COURSE my lady lover, the beautiful Anne Hathaway.  Oh, yes, this dress was backless.  I actually tried to put this one on my favorites collage but Picnik only gave me four spaces.

GOODBYE, Golden Globes.  You were a terrific show filled with Ryan Gosling's adorable facial expressions, Bro love between Jason Segel and Jake Gyllenhall, Andrew Garfield and Jesse Eisenberg, Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges...need I go on?  You make me want to put on my old prom dress and make a speech into a hairbrush in front of my mirror.   I LOVE YOU.

Sorry.

That I haven't been posting, that is.  It's actually not because I've been lazy or unproductive, which is usually the case when it comes to maintaining blogs in my case.  In fact, it's been quite the opposite.

I've got an Etsy shop called Zombie Parade, so named for the fun, colorful portraitss of zombies (cartoon, not gory) I was going to sell.  I've done a few but, like always, got tired of it and recently started something new- painting quotes.

It's not a new idea, but the way I'm doing it is going to make it desirable to hang up in a home or apartment (or even an old shack; everywhere needs a little color) by making the quotes look magical and inspiring with designs around them, etc etc.

Well, I've had so much fun doing them that I hardly care if they sell or not.  My only hope is that they make someone as happy as they've made me!!!

Once I finish some, I'll put them up in my shop and post the link.

Until then.....
Have a wonderful, lazy Sunday, fellow bloggers.

I'm Country STROOOONG

Saturday, January 8, 2011 § 0

As you may have guessed, I did see that last night.  My old friend Corey was in town for his elongated winter break (oh, how I want to be in college!) and so my sister, him, and me all decided to go to Corner Bakery for a quick meal and then over to the theater for a showing of Country Strooooooong! (Sorry, but I can't say that without raising my arm symbolically and drawling out the last word, a la Miss Gweneth Paltrow).

It was actually....very good.  I don't even like country music that much (well, I have more now that we've spent more time at the farm- the only station we pick up down there is honky-tonk) and I really enjoyed the soundtrack.  Leighton Meester was really great and, of course, gorgeous, but Garret Hedlund's musky voice really stole the show.  I thought Gweneth did really well, too- she was quite heartbreaking.  The ending is unexpected but the movie is wonderful and you should all go see it :)

What I did over Christmas Break....

Wednesday, January 5, 2011 § 0

A lot, actually.  I just got my new card reader in today so now I can share all of my lovely break photos with you all :)

So here goes:

1. After a very pleasant and wonderful Christmas morning, my sister and I made these:
Look at that icing job.  All me, baby.

2.  Read, like, three books within a week.  That's a lot for me.
One of them was Mr. Darcy's Diary, by Amanda Grange.  This book is SO GOOD for lovers of Pride and Prejudice.  I admit (with regret) that I have never read the original.  Well, I've tried in the past but I've never gotten past the first few chapters.  I adore the Kiera Knightly movie adaption but I must say, after reading this, I'm going to make it my goal to finish the original novel.

Another one I read was Leaving Unknown, by Kerry Reichs.  It's the cutest story- a girl goes on a cross-country road trip in her loveable beat-up car, pinpointing all the obscure little towns with the craziest names.  She wants to end up in Los Angeles, but she gets sidetracked in the town of Unknown, Arizona when her car breaks down on the side of the road.  She gets a job in a bookstore (with an ADORABLE owner) and finds that she may not want to leave.   I loved it because her character was so great- full of moxie and independence, which is what I strive to be like.  The romance that develops is so heartwarming and sexy that I couldn't help but read different passages over and over.  One of my new fave books!

I also read The Sisters Red by Jackson Pierce.  It was good- I wouldn't read it again, but I liked the story and I thought it got a whole lot better with every chapter I read.  It's about two sisters who are dedicated to hunting the Fenris (ugly, malicious werewolves) ever since the day one killed their grandmother and took the oldest sister Scarlett's eye.  One sister is more dedicated than the other and after Rosie develops an attraction to Scarlett's hunting partner and BFF, conflicts arise.   It's a good read!

3. Took a LOT of pictures of the farm.  Here are a few:

 4. Witnessed The Happening.  Just kidding.  One day before a big storm hit, hundreds of birds flocked in the sky above our little house on the prairie and scared the living daylights out of us.

I hope your Christmas Break (if you got one) was as good as mine.  But now, however, there's school to worry about....

FINALLY, IT'S HERE
